Things Get Explosive!
Saturday October 28th
Fighting and Burning and Tendrils
|
A dazzling display of might and magic |
The Guardians press their attack while the Sea Harpies make a fighting retreat. Arn leads off with a thrown ax imbued with some of Fortis's magic set to Flash and hopefully blind or disorient. Following that, some good use of magic and dragon breath really starts to demoralize the rogues defending their hideout. Arn and Seeker lead the charge through a room full of burning barrels while the Harpies fall back down a narrow hallway. They cover their retreat by flinging small brown sacks that, when burst open, cover a wide area of the floor with small, writhing black tendrils that grab and pull down anyone passing through them. Silver is not liking these patches of tendrils and finds that Dragon breath deals with them nicely.

Hallway fighting! |
The battle moves into a narrow hallway. Valinya uses her Daze spell while Fortis moves around the battlefield under an illusion disguise. Tripping and rolling and falling and shuffling occurs as the melee continues. One rogue throws a glass vial at Valinya that turns into a shimmering green mist, but nothing happens. Moonscar wades into the fray nimbly avoiding the tendrils and downed fighters. He wields his Ironwood staff Sunstroke boldly, keeping his companions from harm and smashing the occasional Sea Harpy.

Silver follows the group into a burning room. |
The Guardians continue their press against the now retreating Sea Harpies. Arn keeps himself in close, swinging his mace in the hallway and Seeker slashes with his enchanted greatsword in the entry room. Valinya flings several bolts of lightning into the fray as well. Silver brings up the rear, dispatching some of the annoying tendril patches. Suddenly, the burning barrels explode, sending forth a shockwave and walls of flame. Seeker is engulfed in flame though protected by Silver's magic. Silver, in turn, is engulfed in rock and dust, and can no longer be seen.
As the dust settles, a loud, warbling howl echoes from further down the corridor. It does not sound like Sings to Moon or Moonscar...
