Grand Duchy of Adventure
Session 31September 11, 2014
Bad Moon Setting
Lunadain 11th of Flaurmont
The members of the Grey Company waited quite impatiently for the arrival of Kalkask and the rest of the wolf pack. Traps were set, strategies were made and scouts were posted.
Finally, the wolves showed up and with a signal from the Elves outside, the Company was ready for battle! The plan was to lure the werewolf, Kalkask, near to where his dead mother lay, hoping to catch him in one of the traps, but things quickly unraveled.
Akaios engages the wolves. |
The pack arrived in the form of a Dire Wolf and several normal wolves, no werewolf in sight. The wolves charged into the lair and Akaios could not restrain himself and charged from his position. Burik and Marcel also stepped up to battle the beasts. Seeing the plan already falling apart, the rest of the company acted.
Kalkask, one nasty wolf! |
Then Kalkask showed up, but he did not enter through the front door, but appeared on the high ridgeline behind Ree, who had stationed herself high on the rocks to utilize her silver crossbow bolts. The young Half-Elf girl did not see the Werewolf behind her and before she could assume a defensive position, he struck, hitting her hard and causing her to fall down the steep, rocky incline. She landed hard on the floor of the lair and did not get up.
The Werewolf then came down from his perch, showcasing his strength and agility in a series of flips and leaps. Kalkask proved to be a much more difficult foe than his mother had been. His superior mobility and advanced tactics were bolstered by some unholy power, no doubt coming from the profane symbol of Orcus that hung around his neck. He fought and taunted the Company for some time, deftly avoiding Griffin's strategically placed traps while the other wolves harassed everyone.
Kalkask managed to claw and bite several members of the party before finally succumbing to combined prowess of the Company. With an angry cry, Akaios raises his silvered axe and severs the head of the now unconscious abomination.
Draven, Marcel and Burik attempt to contain Kalkask...
Kalkask takes a defensive step back...
The Werewolf uses his speed to go after Remar and is pursued by Iris...
The Werewolf is finally dispatched!
