Camping in the Forest

After having found the edge of the forest and the northern highlands, the Grey Company decides to pull back and set up camp in the forest, hoping the surrounding trees will afford them some manner of concealment. They find an adequate spot and set up camp.

That evening, under the protective blanket of Remar's Mystic Mist, the camp slept peacefully until some Goblins approached and scouted the camp. The Goblins were cautious and stealthy but were quickly noticed and Marcel and Draven were able to run them off easily by using spell and intimidation, though the rest of the group was awoken. After the incident, Griffin had trouble going back to sleep so Draven assisted him with some of his magic.

A Sight in the Distance

A magic carpet ride...
The Grey Company leaves the protection of the forest and heads north across the rolling plains of the Karamikan Highlands. Everyone seems a bit tired and sluggish from the encounter with the Goblins the previous night but the weather is good and they make good time. Just after midday, a strange dark shape is spotted moving across the sky to the east. It is too far away to be seen with any clarity but Ree and Iris both use their magic to get a better look. Ree is able to make out what looks like several figures flying on a magic carpet. It looks to be flying to the north, possibly following the river between Rifllian and Verge or Threshold, the distance makes it too difficult to accurately determine the direction they are  traveling in. Upon seeing this, several members of the Company recall hearing about "some Elf that runs a Flying Carpet service" out of Kelvin or Specularum or thereabouts.

Night Wolves

Here doggie, doggie!
That evening the company camps on a small rise in the middle of the plains, hoping to keep a good eye on any possible foes approaching. Draven tells Griffin to skip his watch that evening and get some rest, as he was still exhausted from having trouble sleeping the previous evening. Draven's watch is once again interrupted, this time by a small pack of wolves howling and prowling around the outskirts of the camp. Remar's Mystic Mist appeared to be enough to keep them at bay, but their proximity greatly worried the horses and Draven didn't want to wake any of his companions. He quickly gathered some rocks to throw at them. His first throw is a bullseye, or more appropriately, a wolfsass, and strikes the wolf directly in the behind. The large wolf yelps and runs, the others following after.

Into the Hills

The following day, the Grey Company reaches the foothills of the Black Peak Mountains, the central range of the Altan Tepe Mountains. Almost immediately the going gets much more difficult. The Company still plans to skirt around Verge and head into the mountains in search of the secret destination that their tapestry is leading them toward. After only traveling a few miles through the hills, the Company has to stop to camp and they are lucky enough to find a comfortable spot.
Our place in the world...

Hearing some wolf howls nearby, Griffin and Marcel decided to head out and do a bit of scouting the immediate area in search of any dangers or other interesting finds. Draven says he will remain in the camp and attempt to teach some of the younger Company members academic skills like reading and writing. After a short while, Marcel and Griffin spot a cave mouth up on the side of a rocky hill and try to find a way up to investigate it.
