Session 3

A Warm Welcome

Nytdain 8th of Thaumont, 1001AC

The homestead was burning
The band of travelers walked all day through the forest on their way to Susikyn. Eventually the sun started to set and they still weren't there, so they pushed on. Finally, they reached the homestead, but instead of being happily greeted by the Traldaran folk that lived there, they were ambushed by a marauding band of Goblins that were part of a massive attack on the homestead. The homestead was not in sight. It lay across a short bridge spanning a swift moving stream. As they approached, the companions could see that a barn and part of the palisade fence were on fire.

A running battle to the bridge
Goblins attack!
A melee occurred with the Goblins for a few moments, led bravely by Marcel and Akaios. Griffin and Eranthil began shouting for the others to run for the bridge leading to the homestead, hoping to take cover there. As they approached the homestead, they got a view of a wide clearing to the north that revealed a large force of Goblins. Someone called out from the gate tower to hurry and pointed out another squad of approaching Goblins, these mounted on dangerous Dire Wolves, approaching along the stream from the south.

Having enough trouble with the first wave of Goblins, the group hastened their retreat across the bridge, narrowly slipping to safety in front of the Goblin spears and Dire Wolf teeth. They were quickly greeted by two homesteaders who led them across the yard toward the main house only to be interrupted by another group of Goblins, this band all wearing red and covered from head to toe in red warpaint. They had breached a section of the wall near the barn and were charging in with weapons at the ready. These Goblins were defeated by Griffin and Marcel with help from Ree and Akaios with additional support by some homesteaders with bows and slings.
Fighting all the way to the door!
Marcel and Akaios took some telling blows and Ree was nearly gutted by one of the Redblade Goblins, but eventually everyone made it into the safety of the main house. There, they were greeted by a stern faced man who introduced himself as Pytor and saw the rest of his family, huddled and scared.
