To the Lake of Lost Dreams

Over the next 5 days, the Grey Company would continue their search for Stephan. They traveled east toward the homestead of Segenyev, hoping to find some new clues, but knowing in their hearts they would only find another masacare. After Segenyev, the plan was to continue east, toward the Lake of Lost Dreams and a clan of Elves rumored to live there. The Company hoped that the Elves could help them find the lair of the Wolfskull Goblins and rescue Stephen at last.

Wolves following in the rain
It continued to rain. The temperature was dropping as well. Everyone was miserable. The muddy road and poor visibility made it nearly impossible to travel, but the Grey Company pushed on to the east. Despite the rain, a good amount of food was scared up while traveling. After lunch, Remar spotted a pack of wolves following them. The wolves kept their distance. They followed for the rest of the day and once the group stopped to make camp, Marcel charged down the road at them, banging his shield and spear together loudly. This scared the wolves off. Later that night, the wolves returned and Remar woke Draven and Marcel up in the middle of the night to help him drive the wolves away. They were able to drive the wolves away without a fight, but managed to wake up the entire camp in the process.

Finally, after 5 straight days of raining, it stopped. It was still cloudy, cool and windy, but it was not raining anymore. This raised everyone's spirits a bit as they began making a little better time toward their destination. Unfortunatley, the rain had slowed them enough on the previous days that they still did not reach Segenyev by the end of the day. More foraging happened along the way and the group felt like they were beginning to get the hang of this 'outdoors' thing. The wolves came back that night, earlier this time, and the whole group helped to drive them away.

The sun rises on a new day and the skies remain dry, though heavy with clouds. The settlement of Segenyev is reached before noon and the Company finds what they had feared, the settlement destroyed and no survivors. The bodies of the fallen are given an appropriate ceremony and the Company moves on. It is decided to travel to the Lake of Lost Dreams in the east, hoping to find the Elves that are rumored to live near there. With no path or road ahead, the company decides to follow the area between the forest and the hills, using that as a hopeful guide so they don't get lost in unfamiliar lands. The nearby woods do not give much bounty as the Company passes and they have to dip more heavily into their stores of food.

The Lake of Lost Dreams
The next day is dry again, though the clouds still threaten rain. The wind is still blowing and it is unseasonably cool. The Company pushes on to the east, following the area between the hills and the Dymrak forest. About midday, the Company breaks from their chosen path and heads up into the hills, taking a more direct path to the lake. After several tiring hours, the river is met. Exploring the area, a ford is soon discovered. On the far side of the river is a path leading to the north and south, following the banks of the river. Taking a chance, the Company heads north. Just before sunset, they come across the lake of Lost Dreams, a fog-shrouded lake of great mystery and beauty. While gazing out across the large lake, a group of six Elves introduce themselves. They are a friendly bunch, led by Goriidel. They talk of the beauty of the lake and hills and trees and air for a moment, then the Elves tell a tale of thieving Pixies and their lost statue and ask the Company for help, offering to pay them a handful of gemstones to go out to an island on the lake and recover the stolen statue. The Company agrees upon the condition that the Elves help them with their search for Stephan afterward. The Company camps on the shores of the Lake that evening with the Elves under the protective mist of Elf magic.

The next morning, the Elves have already begun working on the raft that must be built in order to reach the island. Everyone quickly pitches in to help while trying to find out some about the island and the Pixies in the process.
