We last left three of our companions as they were at a nefarious place called The Sinker, a tavern, rooming house, place of business, run by a notorious Boss in the Starling Lords lands.

Having just witnessed an exchange between a woman and man with another fellow named Ricard over a game of cards, the companions were just hiding out from the rain and figuring out what to do next.

Brother Robert was doing just fine at the bar drinking and making conversation with the older bartender, Boris. Jens was also talking to the other man at the bar, Durin. Ragnar fell asleep on the plush seat.    Nilas was walking around, trying to engage in conversation, but it was clear that the other two men didn't care to talk much.

The group was debating about getting a room or moving on. The issue was that it was still early in the day, but the rain outside was a downpour and travel would be limited. The group had discussed ideas and tried to ask around about local issues. Brother Robert led on a tale and tied up the attention of the two men with tales of intrigue and their journey here.

It was around that time, while Nilas was talking to Ragnar, that he spotted a hooded figure spying at him through the window. Immediately Nilas felt like he was in danger and thought that maybe the assassins had arrived. He tried to have Ragnar look, but the figure had moved on. Nilas made his way over to Jens and whispered to him about the man he saw outside. With Brother Robert drawing attention from the bar staff, Jens and Nilas made their way outside.

The rain was steady and Nilas was curious, yet confident. He moved around the corner of the building and saw the hooded figure trying to scale up on a tree and a ledge to the building to peer through the window. Nilas motioned to Jens Marko to sneak up this side while Nilas would flank the figure. As Nilas got into position, Jens slipped in the mud and tore off a piece of siding off of the building, making a terrible noise. The figure saw him and dropped down and started to run. Nilas attempted to grapple the man, but he was too quick and started to run off towards the back of the building. NIlas yelled for the man to stop.

The hooded man ran towards the back of the building and cut a left turn behind the structure. Jens caught up to Nilas and the two of them turned the corner in time to see the man holding a ball of lightning in his hands. The man yelled for them to stop and asked Nilas and Jens who they are and what they were doing here. Nilas answered him. Jens was clearly nervous and seemed to be very cautious around spellcasters.

The man told them to leave him alone, but NIlas was curious and wanted answers himself. As they took another step closer, the man hurled a lightning bolt at Jens. Jens dove to the ground and avoided the blast. Nilas yelled, rapped on the window near where Ragnar was sitting and hurled his spear at the hooded man, but missed. The man fell back more into the trees and Nilas was moving closer.

Just as Jens was regaining his footing, the hooded figure cast another spell and the grass and weeds rose up very high, blocking Nilas's and Jens's path towards the man. Nilas called for a spell from Calla to grant him the ability to walk upon air. As Nilas rose up above the ground and walked over the high grass and vegetation, the man cast another spell and disappeared from sight. In his frustration, Nilas then cast a Thunderclap spell in hopes to daze the man if he was still around but hidden from view.

Nilas then searched the area around the ground and found some tracks, but nothing that he could really search too well. Nilas then recovered his spear and made his way back to the Sinker. He and Jens came back inside, tracking mud and dirt along the floor, much to the displeasure of the serving girl. Nilas apologized to her and handed her a few extra copper coins.

Back inside the Sinker, Nilas and Jens had to explain their actions to Mr. Lynan, the proprietor, who had come down amidst all of the comotion. It seems as though the hooded figure was not a threat, but a local druid named Shane. The bartender was upset that Nilas and Jens may have chased off a regular patron. After some explaining, Mr. Lynan seemed to understand and put the companions at bay. He also reminded Nilas that no hurling of lightning within 50 yards of the building. Nilas kept a mental note of that. It wasn't that he couldn't hurl lightning at all, just not nearby.

After some further discussion about the area, the building and their thought of tracking down the assailants, the companions found themselves renting a room for the night and hoping to either find a lead on the assassins or more information on the plague that hit Grebechyr.

Nilas did hear a rumor that someone mentioned zombies in the area of Grebechyr and it sounded suspiciously like the same incident that they ran into at Piper's Quay. Some more food for thought. Nilas went back to reading books and trying to find information on the area and about Sea Hags. Nilas also suggested that they bring Carmel to the building or at least bring her in for a meal and make sure that she is safe.

...this is where we left the tale off at.......
