Water Hazards
Roll20 Chat Log
The Gold Goblin Crew was in a tight spot! They found themselves up against some sort of aquatic abomination with powers of illusion! The party reacted quickly and met the creature in battle, but all too quickly the tide turned. First Bodi dropped his weapons and dove, headfirst, into the fetid pool of water. Then the nimble swordsman Aragon was grappled by, not one, not two, but three, of the creatures tentacles. Aethel, Guy and Paal peppered the beast with spell, stone and arrow, but to little effect. Snargash worked on summoning some divine magic even though he was past his safe threshold on calling upon his goddesses further.Things started to look grim for the Gold Goblin Crew! |
Next, Paal succumbed to the beasts mind control, dropped his weapons and dove into the murky water, never to be seen again. Aragon, fully grappled by several tentacles, was pulled from his perch on the wall and plunged into the water as well. After casting his quickening magic, Snargash was grappled by two of the slimy tentacles. Feeling things were becoming dire, Aethel upped the energy of one of his lightning bolts and this time the blast had an effect on the creature. Not only did it burn the creature, the electrical jolt stunned it, causing it to release both Aragon and Snargash.
Aragon and Snargash, both still under water, quickly found that they could breathe the water as if it were air. Taking advantage of this, Aragon began slashing at the underside of the creature while Snargash started searching for his two companions who had dove into the water on their own. Guy and Aethel continued to harass the beast from above, taking advantage of its stunned state. Snargash quickly realized that the pool was much deeper than he thought and came to the conclusion that he could not find his friends.
Battling the aquatic abomination! |
Everyone began trying to figure out what to do, knowing they were on a dangerous timeline as well. Snargash was sure he could use his divine magic to somehow cure the maladies affectign them, but he could not figure out how to blow his flutes underwater and could not breathe out of water enough to play them. The answer was out there, but it was alluding everyone, and time was of the essence.
Session Notes
Wow. We are getting to the end of the campaign here, and the party really took a beating this time. It couldn't have been more unfortunate, the two players who were absent had their characters fail important Will rolls (made by the other players) and were literally lost. I feel bad, but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes. It probably wouldn't have played out much differently if the players HAD been present.Cast of Characters:
